A Happy Mother’s Day Poem

Dear One,

Sending you so much love on this Mother’s Day to you and your mama. My mom, Linda, is quite simply breathtaking in her generosity and kindness. I love the way she shows up in the world and feel so blessed to get to have her as my mama.

I’m always inspired by my brilliant poetic soul sisters like Shiloh Sophia & SARK and felt moved to create a poem and record it for you today to celebrate motherhood in all its glory!

Go here to give ‘er a listen:

For the Mamas

This is for the mamas with the brand new, squirmy baby and the mamas who now hold grandbabies

For the mamas who feel unseen and unappreciated and the mamas who are showered with love

For the mamas who have “let themselves go” and the mamas who still strut their stuff in a bikini

For the mamas with the sick babies and the mamas with the all star athletes

For the mamas who feel celebrated and the mamas who feel like they are at the end of their rope

For the mamas who forget to take care for themselves and the mamas who practice radical self-care

For the mamas who spoil their little ones and the mamas who are scraping to get by…

Oh, mamas, whoever you are and wherever you are we bow to you…

Thank you for getting through the cracked nipples and the stitches where the sun don’t shine

Thank you for the 4am feeding and changing that obscene diaper (without gagging)

Thank you for kissing the boo boos and the endless hour of peek-a-boo

Thank you for exclaiming with glee, “Yes, it IS a fire truck!” over and over again

Thank you for smooching your babies as you say, “I’m so lucky to be your mama”

Thank you for the trip to the store for the first training bra

Thank you for taking just the right amount of pictures for Junior Prom without completely embarrassing me

Thank you for letting the band rehearse in the garage

Thank you for waving goodbye proudly as I drove off for the first time with my driver’s license

Thank you for the doing the endless piles of laundry and decorating my dorm room with me

Thank you for letting me go and nurturing me to grow

Thank you for all the things seen, and unseen

We bow to you, Mamas, for all that you are and all that you do

Happy Mother’s Day.

With unstoppable love,
