I was talking with a dear friend the other day who was in the midst of a near panic attack. She was beating herself up so severely and felt deeply broken in so many ways. I heard myself say to her:
“You’re NOT broken, you’re human.”
We all have places and times where we feel broken, like we just can’t get our sh*t together. The places where we feel like an absolute failure. Where do you feel, broken, dear one?
Is it in how you deal (or don’t deal) with anger?
Perhaps it’s how you treat your body? The food you eat?
Maybe it’s when you look at your bank account?
Or how you parent your teenager?
Wherever it is in your life that you feel broken, I want you to stop, right now, take a deep breath, put your hand on your heart and tell yourself that you are whole and OK just as you are.
Give yourself some self-compassion.
You’re not alone. After coaching humans for over two decades now, rest assured that I’ve been honored to hear the truth of what’s going on in people’s lives and we all have our broken places.
