Is loyalty holding you back?

We usually think of loyalty as a good thing. And usuallyit is! But what about when your loyalty holds you back?

Picture this: you repeatedly go for a desire, a dream, a goal and never fully realize it.

Maybe it’s a health goal, a money goal, or a relationship goal?

It’s one of those things that you put on your list year after year and you can’t seem to figure out what’s sabotaging you.

I get it (and so do my clients and loved ones)!

Let me let you on a little secret about what might be the culprit…

MISPLACED LOYALTY.

Misplaced loyalty is that subtle, but powerful, force that can sabotage you tying you to groups, individuals, and ideas that don’t align with who you long to become. Think of misplaced loyalty as a silent allegiance to people that once resonated, but now act as roadblocks, hindering your evolution.

It often sneaks into our lives, subtly tying us to groups and individuals whose values no longer match our growth trajectory. Do your current loyalties propel you towards the person and leader you aspire to be?

For example:

  • Perhaps you’re on a health journey, but you come from a family with chronic health issues so the minute you begin to break into a new level of vitality, you sabotage yourself to be true to your family.
  • Or maybe you’re about to catapult to the next level of your career and become a VP or hit the 7-figure mark, but you begin to feel uneasy and become filled with self-doubt, not realizing it’s because your friends are stuck in careers they hate, making mediocre money and you don’t want to “show them up.”
  • Or perhaps your spouse is really struggling with their career and so you subconsciously stop yourself from shining bright because you don’t want to “make” your partner feel bad.

It’s time to reassess and, if necessary, redefine those loyalties. Surround yourself with those who uplift and empower your journey, shedding associations that hinder your growth.

Overcoming Misplaced Loyalty:

  1. Soulful Self-Reflection: Take a moment for deep introspection. Reflect on your allegiances, questioning whether they align with your current values and if they encourage your growth. Look at the people you surround yourself with and notice if there is a subtle, or overt, way that they don’t want you to shine.
  2. Boundaries that Empower: Establishing beautiful boundaries is your best friend. Communicate and redefine boundaries that foster growth while gently releasing ties that hold you back. It’s OK to reserve the right to know who to share what with.
  3. Embrace the Authentic Journey: Authenticity flourishes in change. Embrace it, embrace your evolution, and step into the unknown with the confidence that shedding misplaced loyalties will unveil the person your were born to be.

Shedding the chains of misplaced loyalty is an act of self-liberation. As you embark on this transformative journey, remember: your authentic, fully actualized self awaits when you release misplaced loyalty.

Keep shining your radiant light on the world,
