For those of you that are moms, you know it is like becoming a member of a secret society. There is no way to even begin to understand the pressures (or pleasures) of parenthood until you experience it. Before I had my daughter, Annabella, I would roll my eyes when someone said something like that, but truly there is simply no context for it. There is life before being a mom and life after being a mom. You must evolve.
Now couple that with being a business owner. I marvel at how my days end up–how easy it is to become engrossed in work or my daughter and how easy it is to never be 100% present to either. To instead be half present, always working, always mothering, with everything bleeding together.
I don’t want to live that way. I want to be present and mindful. I want to be a great mom, a “mindful mama” as my mothers support group is called. One of the things that helps is to do my affirmations each day. Here is my latest favorite:
“I am where I am”.
