The Wake-Up Call Show: The Most Important Question to Ask Yourself for 2013

Dear One,

Happy 2013! You may have noticed that this email is coming to you on Thursday, instead of my normal Wake-Up Call Wednesday. That’s just how I’m rolling this year…no more pushing to make it happen…especially when the deadlines are made up!

I’m feeling frisky and a bit snugly today, so I felt inspired to record this video for you from my bed in my bathrobe. 🙂 Check it out here.

In this video, I share with you the most important question to ask yourself about the year ahead. This question is the one that is driving me to continue to sink in and ponder for the entire month of January.

Let me know what you and your Inner Wisdom come up with below.  I love hearing from fabulous you!

With love, joy and delightful anticipation about the year ahead,

P.S. It’s time for Wabi Sabi LOVE!

Did you know there’s a 20-second cure that can put the spark back in your relationship… even if your lover’s annoying habits are starting to really grate on you, drive you up the wall and make you crazy? Oh yeah!

My good friend, Arielle Ford, who’s an expert in “Wabi Sabi Love,” just shot a free video series about it.

And she’d like to share it with you, whether you’re married, in a relationship or seeking your soulmate. Watch the Wabi Sabi Love FREE video series here now!

Please share this video and leave a comment below about who you want to BE in 2013!

  1. love love love seeing you in your robe, telling it–no LIVING it like it is, Amy. thank you for giving us ALL permission to be exactly who we are not next year when I’ve figured it all out, or after the next course when I’m a master of-whatever. January is the month of DREAMING!! holy wow. Thank you for that. I am choosing to BE powerful. To BE loud. To BE forward. To BE my decisions, versus hoping my decisions help me be someone else!

  2. Jenn says:

This is the first video of yours that I have watched and it really struck me. For the past few days I have been dreaming & scheaming a lot but felt like I am already behind. Glad I can take a breather.

We have many similar things we want to be this year. I, also, want to be a pregnany woman, I want to be a loving & patient mother and wife, I want to be a blogger, I want to be a person that takes actions, I want to be someone that loves what they do each day and doens’t wake up with dread for what lays in store, I want to be giving, I want to be an inspiration. I want to be the best of me.

  3. Debbie says:

Thank you, Amy for your authenticity.
In 2013 I want to be: shining Brightly, self- connected,
Divinely Aligned, love, light, happy, open, living
From my Inner Wisdom, sharing my heart open
Life with my tribe and beloved. Ho!!

  4. Hi Amy, Happy New Year to you too. This year I want to be the sole practitioner whose practice operates like a well-oiled machine. But most of all, for the first time in my life, I want to be the best possible ME I can be, not a pathetic version of someone else.

  5. Teresa says:

I want to be present in the now and flow with my life instead of pushing, and pulling and trying to get to the rest stops of life until I can make a change. I am going to be what I want in the moments of everyday.

  6. Marta S. says:

Good question! Definitely not my 2012 me0-that was not good at all. I need to be a person who gets out and does things-good, not bad, of course. I especially need to be more motivated-I need to move this spring, possibly sooner if I ever figure out where *it *is.I really need to be the me who takes charge of my life and gets it back in 2013. That includes the move, seeing more music, art, films, dance, and other arts, too.I’m an artist/writer, and I need to reclaim that part of my life instead of constantly putting in on the back burner.

  7. KT from AZ says:

This year I intend to be a *productive* writer.

I am not going to be, as I was in 2012, going to be “in the process of re-starting” my writing career.

No flippin’ idea what this will mean for my life in general, but I guess that’s the idea: spend the month meditating on how I can BE that productive writer.

    • KT from AZ says:

Arrrgh! The self-editor must have been on coffee break. Naturally that should have been, “I am not going to be, as I was in 2012, “in the process…” and so forth.

Oh well. I sometimes give the self-editor too much rope anyway.

  8. Irmgard says:

Hi Amy, beautifully inspired. This is the greates question for me, will have to ponder about it more in depth and in harmony with my inner me. Writing from Switzerland, snow here, will write after my pondering. thanks soooo very much, Irmgard

  9. Maya says:

Hi Amy, as always very inspiring insights! A truly happy New year to you!
Listening to you right now (and by reading your book), I decided that in 2013 – and in general – I want be the real ME – true to myself regardless of circumstances, people etc. I choose to be more hopeful, inspired, happy, kind and excited about life and all the good that is coming!

  10. Marianna says:

I am choosing to be alive, joyful, self-loving, inspiring and inspired, thriving, authentic, passionate, mindful, creative, curious, playful, fierce!
Sending support to all of you sweet Dreamers!

  11. Jill says:

I want to be my authentic self in 2013.

  12. Kalmia says:

Thank-you for shareing your truth which is so BEAUTIFUL !

I want to honor my feelings and intuition more and also my own rythyms, to spell and say words like i want to spell and say them and to be more happy to be alive as I am manifesting now.

I want to be even more honest and reliable to my self and others
And refuse to be a willing victim to dishonest and unreliable
relationships. No deal is better than a bad deal and to have the strength to wait alone if necessary !

I refuse to take on other peoples shame as my own! And to keep my conscience orderly !

  13. suzie aar says:

I hear you, and understand, I am with you!! I am your Tribe!

I encourage you to observe what you are attracting. If/when there are things you don’t want in your life, then throw out the stinking thinking and go for the happy, joyous, loving LIFE you DO want.

I too looked at 2012 and now I just say NO to the things that I don’t want to attract for ME to be happy, prosperous, loving, kind, a woman of wisdom,
All those things I already am! If/when I am attracting otherwise then just throw them out.

Yeah I know it sometimes isn’t easy, but life is to short to settle for less than the best for YOU.

    your sister,
Ps and it is never wrong to Love!! sometimes Love doesn’t look mushy and sweet and kissyface huggybear. But you know Love in your heart.

  14. Kim says:

In 2013 want to be an inspirational teacher and writer who helps hundreds of people to live more authentic, joyful, meaningful and healthy lives. In years to come, I want to be my own best version of Amy Ahlers, Martha Beck, Lissa Rankin…even OPRAH! Yes! Yes, I said it! Thanks so much for this most excellent question. Rock on, everyone!

  15. Aliyah says:

This is the queations that I needed to ask myself. Thank you for bringing it forth. Thank you.I want to live the joyous life.

  16. Aliyah says:

  17. […] I challenge you to look at the question, “Who do you want to BE in 2013?” […]
